Draft Memorandum of Agreement
Draft Memorandum of Agreement submitted by John Helly. Institutional signatories must be added and comments are welcome.
Pursuant to the objectives defined at the Coastal Atlases Workshop on the Limitations of Coastal Web Atlases held in Cork, Ireland, July 24-28, 2006 we are endorsing this Memorandum of Agreement. This is an agreement between the signatory institutions to jointly pursue funding and projects in the interest of advancing the utility and interoperability of digital marine coastal atlases. Our goals are to develop a community of common purpose to collectively and individually improve the information resource represented by the existing resources and to develop standard and practices that will improve the value of these resources for the future.
These efforts will encompass information technology, geographic information systems, and data and metadata content standardization to enhance comparability of information and interoperability of data systems. This agreement does not commit resources nor convey any intellectual property rights but serves as a record of our recognized common purpose and willingness to cooperate in this endeavor.
